The second track on Lost Somewhere Between the Earth and My Home, The Small Song, features the single best vocal performance of the nineties. There. I said it. That power. That raw emotion. Cor blimey. It would be a great song with a lesser vocal performance, but with that voice? It’s like… whoahh. You get me?
The Geraldine Fibbers were alt-country. I don’t have the expertise to tell you what that means, exactly, but is a pretty good description of them nonetheless. If you don’t like country, you won’t like this, I don’t think. It gets (how to put this without using the word country again in this paragraph) pretty darn country in places. (Yep. Nailed it. Go me.) It is a bit more… alt?.. than most country tho… oh forget it.
Look. How much more do you need? It’s a really good album. Listen to it, yeah?
