Have you got an advent calendar sorted yet? I have. Let me tell you all about it.
It seemed pretty clear in the spring that this winter was not going to be a normal one. No vaccine until 2021 meant at least one more lockdown and all sorts of interruptions, closures and cancellations. So, to inject a little cheer into what might be a glum December, we decided Christmas presents were out this year and advent calendars in. And because almost all commercially available advent calendars are a bit rubbish, I made my own.
Yeah, I know, this idea is well capitalist. Stick with me though.
I’ve mostly just bought stuff I would have bought anyway – books and chocolates, some nice looking marmalade and some new pencils. I treated myself to a nicer diary than I normally get, but I reckoned I was worth it. I know that some of you will be thinking that a nice country walk is worth a thousand possessions, and you are probably right, but I still reckon most of you will have something to open on Christmas Day. Presents are nice, I’ve just spread my Christmas cheer over most of a month.
I don’t know why I’m justifying myself really. I’ll do what I fucking like, mate. And as it happens, I like books and chocolate etc, so, you know, like it or lump it.
Anyway, I thought I’d share the idea with you. In case you thought it was a good one. It might be a quiet winter. It may as well be stuff-tastic one. Buy yourself a load of cool stuff why don’t you?
